Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Cloud Services department globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities 

 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Support SaltStack operations to help with configuration tasks and assist with automated deployments across Windows and Linux servers.

•    Support WSUS operations by helping apply updates, monitoring system status and resolving common patching issues for Windows servers.

•    Assist with Red Hat Satellite by performing patching tasks, monitoring system status, and helping distribute content to Linux servers.

•    Maintain Red Hat Satellite for patch management, content distribution, and server health in enterprise Linux ecosystems.

•    Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to calls, emails, alerts, diagnosing incidents, and resolving issues efficiently to minimize downtime of the platforms.

•    Conduct detailed root cause analysis for system failures or performance degradation, documenting findings and implementing long-term fixes.

•    Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks, incident reports, and configuration guides, to support team knowledge sharing.

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 

•    Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

Education / Experience / Other Information 

•    Mid Level: 1-3 years of progressive experience in system administration, infrastructure automation, and enterprise support.
•    Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration.
•    Mid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for task automation and system integration.
•    Prior experience in an on-call or 24/7 support role is strongly preferred.
•    Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and documenting processes.
•    Understanding of patch management best practices and basic cybersecurity principles to safeguard systems.

 

 

Nice to have
•    Mid-to-High level knowledge of Vmware/Aria, SaltStack, WSUS and Red Hat Satellite.



Working Conditions
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  Limited travel internationally 
•    Participation in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 system availability and rapid resolution of critical incidents
