The Master of Science in Psychotherapy Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University invites applications for a 36 month contractually limited position with the possibility of extending. The position will be located at the West 5th Campus, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

 

 

 

The Psychotherapy Program is a professional, course based graduate degree that focuses on clinical training. The goal is to prepare students for a career as a psychotherapy practitioner. The MSc in Psychotherapy is a full time 20-month program that spans five terms. Courses are offered during the day, evenings and over the fall, winter, spring/summer semesters.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach graduate level courses in psychotherapy. Specific courses taught will be negotiated with the Director of the Psychotherapy Program, according to the needs of the program and the candidate’s teaching and clinical experience.
  • Contribute towards the delivery of the program through mentoring students and participating in the administration of the program e.g. applications process, academic committees.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of curricula using innovative pedagogy.
  • Maintain membership in good standing in the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
 

 

 

Candidate Criteria:

  • Masters or Doctoral Degree in a psychotherapy-related program (e.g., counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, social work)
  • Graduate level training and extensive clinical experience in providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • A demonstrated track record in teaching at the university level and clinical experience in the provision of psychotherapy
  • Experience with curriculum development and providing clinical supervision is an asset
