Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a full-time opportunity based in Thunder Bay, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced and driven engineering professional looking to take on leadership responsibilities while contributing to a wide range of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design and project delivery efforts from concept through to completion. You will also play a key role in client relationship management, project coordination, technical design, and mentoring junior team members within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

  • Pay Rate: $100,000 – $140,000/year

  • Location: Thunder Bay, ON

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday

  • Contract: Permanent

  • Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and engineering work across multiple concurrent projects from proposal stage through to completion

  • Perform mechanical system design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, energy modelling, and system upgrades

  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and overall project performance

  • Coordinate and collaborate with architects, contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Oversee construction administration activities including site reviews, shop drawing reviews, and project coordination meetings

  • Support business development activities including proposal preparation and client engagement

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and drafting staff

  • Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and field reviews as required

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Support project execution across multiple delivery models including design-bid-build and design-build

  • Maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing business development opportunities

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within consulting or construction environments

  • Licensed or eligible for P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

  • Strong experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design

  • Experience with commercial, institutional, and/or light industrial building projects

  • Strong project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination

  • Experience with construction administration and field reviews

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
