From very early in her career\, she had great professional success: after having been a collaborator for major media such as La Presse and Radio-Canada\, Chris directed for the newspaper VOIR for five years\, which was the largest network of weekly cultural magazines in Quebec at the time. She then made the leap to the advertising world where she held the position of creative director for major agencies. Then\, she came out and started living true life as a trans woman. Suddenly being propelled into the reality of a visible sexual minority has profoundly transformed her perception of the world. In Quebec and internationally\, Chris advocates for diversity\, inclusion and the rights of trans people by sharing her story to the public. She frequently intervenes in the advertising industry to demand better representation of minorities. At Cossette\, she leads a multidisciplinary team of strategists\, community managers and multiplatform content creators. She is also part of the creativity collective that strives to push the boundaries of the agency’s creative branch at their Montreal office. Thanks to her creative and strategic outlook\, she amplifies the digital potential of Cossette’s clients. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, February 14\, 2023\, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EST – This is a free networking event for women and non-binary people. \n \nPride at Work Canada has been bringing women and non-binary* professionals and job seekers together for years. As many women and non-binary people don’t feel safe in many professional networking spaces\, Rendez-Vous: Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect creates a unique opportunity for women and non-binary people to make professional connections in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere! \n*Pride at Work Canada understands that these terms may not resonate with everyone and endeavors to include all those who do not identify as men. This includes trans women\, cis women\, non-binary folks\, agender folks\, and more. We also host Matrices: Trans\, Non-Binary & Agender Digital Connect to those who would prefer a trans\, non-binary\, and agender specific space. \nOur guest speaker will deliver brief remarks\, then attendees will be placed into breakout rooms to discuss our speaker’s story and the event theme\, and to meet other professionals and jobseekers. In 2019 made history as the first Black\, Queer\, Gender Non-Conforming person elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly and across Canada. Most recently Uzoma became the first Black person to make a law in Manitoba when their Bill “The Somali Heritage Week Act” was passed in December 2020 with unanimous support in the Manitoba Legislature. Uzoma has been a long-time advocate alongside newcomer and refugee communities\, Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ folks\, youth\, and grassroots organizations.[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWho should attend?\nThe purpose of this event is to provide space for folks who identify as women or non-binary. SUMMARY:THRIVE 2023
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays\, from February 28\, 2023\, to April 25\, 2023 – from 6 PM to 9 PM ET – this event is open to anyone who would like to register and accept the registration fee. \n \n \nTHRIVE 2023\nVirtual Leadership Program\n \nTHRIVE is a three-month virtual program that will develop the next generation of queer and trans people managers. Participants will get exclusive access to queer and trans leaders working at the highest levels of Canadian business and engage in important peer-to-peer discussions. Through live Zoom sessions\, collaborative group study\, and self-directed work our third THRIVE cohort will collectively unlock their potential as out leaders. \nThe process by which those interested in participating will open on Tuesday\, December 13\, 2022. The deadline for applications will be Friday\, February 10\, 2023. Those selected for the THRIVE cohort will pay a participation fee of $1500 for employees of Pride at Work Canada’s Proud Partners and $2000 for employees of other organizations\, due upon acceptance. \nVisit THRIVE 2023!
