SUMMARY:Fierté des neiges / Winter Pride 2024
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, February 21\, 2024\, from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST – This in-person event is free and open to the public. For those who would like to join the workshop\, the session is paid and in French. \nPresented by Pride at Work Canada\n \n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″] \n \nLead Sponsor\n  \n \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″] \n \nHost Sponsor\n  \n\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nAn evening of learning and networking\, Fierté des neiges / Winter Pride returns on February 21\, continuing the annual tradition of bringing the Pride at Work Canada network to Montreal to celebrate the inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA + people in the workplace during the winter season. \nThe event will be hosted by comedian\, singer\, writer and producer Tranna Wintour and held in person at Square BDC in downtown Montreal. \nThis year\, a workshop (30 people and French paid session) titled Strength in Community: Leveraging our Strengths in the Fight Against Rising Hate will precede the networking event. \nLocation\nSquare BDC\n5 Place Ville Marie\, Ground Floor\nMontreal\, QC \n\n4:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Workshop (Paid registration required\, 30 places available)*\n5:30 PM to 8:30 PM – Fierté des neiges / Winter Pride Event\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\nConnect with leaders from a variety of industries.\n\nAudience: \n\nExecutive sponsors and their employees\nDiversity and Inclusion Professionals\nEntrepreneurs and CEOs\n\nDrinks and appetizers included. \nPlaces are limited\, hurry up!\nEmcee:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″]Tranna Wintour (she/her) \nMany French-speaking Quebecers discovered Tranna when she appeared on the second season of Big Brother Célébrités (BBC). Yet for over a decade\, Tranna has been making her mark on the Canadian cultural scene as a comedian\, singer\, songwriter and producer. Her multidisciplinary performances have earned her Fashion Magazine’s title of “Queen of Canadian Comedy”\, and she was named one of Just For Laughs’ New Faces Canada in 2019. \nA true inspirational figure in the LGBTQ2S+ community\, Tranna also co-hosted Chosen Family (CBC) with her creative partner Thomas Leblanc\, which was named one of Apple’s Best Podcasts in 2018 and 2019. Her participation in BBC marked a pivotal point in her career\, as she entered the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Described by Métro newspaper as the “Discovery of the Year”\, her career in French-language show business continues\, with her hosting her own gala at the Dr. Mobilo Aquafest and taking part in various festivals (Just For Laughs\, ComediHA!\, Festival d’humour émergent\, etc.).\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWorkshop in French*\nStrength in Community: Leveraging our Strengths in the Fight Against Rising Hate\nGoing beyond the idea of “resilience”\, it’s time to recognize and explore the strengths that come from our intersectional 2SLGBTQIA+ identities and lived experiences – and how we can apply those to our work in employee resource groups and inclusion councils in this climate of rising hate. \nOver the past year\, there has been a rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests\, attacks\, and political movements. Within this context\, our employee resource groups and inclusion councils are facing immense pressure in our work\, increasing calls for support from the community we serve\, and the immense weight that comes with working on issues related to our personal identities. And yet\, we still do this work – as our 2SLGBTQIA+ elders have done for decades before us. \nIn this workshop\, we will take stock of the strengths we’ve built through community-making and self-discovery\, and strategize to apply those internally to care for ourselves while doing this work and externally to mobilize against rising hate. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nMain learnings from 2SLGBTQIA+ leaders from Lead with Pride: Best Practices for Advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ Leadership.\nWhat our strengths are as individuals and as a community.\nHow to leverage those strengths in the face of rising hate.\n\n\nMember ticket price (Proud Partners and Community Partners): $80 + taxes\nNon-member ticket price: $100 + taxes\n\n* The workshop includes a pre-event reception from 5 PM to 5:30 PM\, where you’ll have the chance to network with our guest Tranna Wintour. \nThe Fierté des neiges/Winter Pride and workshop tickets are available on Eventbrite.\nThis in-person event is free and open to the public. The workshop component is considered a paid event. If you have any questions\, please send an email to events@prideatwork.ca.

SUMMARY:Rendez-Vous: 2SLGBTQIA+ Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect [EN]
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, February 13\, 2024\, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EST – This is a free networking event for 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people. \n \nPride at Work Canada has been bringing 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary* professionals and job seekers together for years. As many 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people don’t feel safe in many professional networking spaces\, Rendez-Vous: 2SLGBTQIA+ Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect creates a unique opportunity for 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people to make professional connections in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere! \n*Pride at Work Canada understands that these terms may not resonate with everyone and endeavors to include all those who do not identify as men. This includes trans women\, cis women\, non-binary folks\, agender folks\, and more. We also host Matrices: Trans\, Non-Binary & Agender Digital Connect to those who would prefer a trans\, non-binary\, and agender specific space. \nOur guest speaker will deliver brief remarks\, then attendees will be placed into breakout rooms to discuss our speaker’s story and the event theme\, and to meet other professionals and jobseekers. After the breakout room discussions\, we’ll come back as a group to share our takeaways and close the session. \nBilingualism: At this event\, there will be a Francophone breakout room\, and automated French captioning will be available. \nHelp us make Rendez-Vous a safer event! All attendees will be provided with a set of community guidelines prior to the event that they will be expected to read and honour. Discussion facilitators will be present in our breakout rooms\, and there will be a BIPOC-specific breakout room\, as well as a non-binary specific breakout room\, for folks who wish to join that space. \nGuest speaker:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] Shelly-Ann Skinner (they/them\, she/her)\, Founder/President\, UPlift Black \nShelly-Ann Skinner is an Award winning activist\, anti- oppression educator\, mentor and community builder. With her lived experience of intersectional discrimination and gender-based violence\, Shelly\, carries a story of inspirational perseverance\, resiliency\, and dedication to the betterment of her community. In 2020\, amid a global pandemic\, Shelly founded UPlift Black; the first social service agency based in Simcoe County\, Ontario dedicated to increasing the visibility and socio-economic development of local Black communities. Shelly believes\, in order to achieve true equality and liberation for Black people in Canada\, the movement for systemic change must include a transfeminist approach that challenges both homophobia and misogyny and fights for disability justice. With Shelly’s fresh new take on Equity\, Diversity and Inclusion\, she is using a Social Justice Framework to ensure fair treatment\, access\, opportunity\, and advancement for all. In recent years\, Shelly has established herself as a sought-after leader whose influence resonates in the communities across Canada\, and beyond. Overall\, Shelly brings passion\, leadership\, and drive to everything she does\, and she inspires people from various backgrounds to become the leaders their communities sorely need.\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWho should attend?\nThe purpose of this event is to provide space for folks who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ women or non-binary. There is no desire to monitor anyone’s gender or create barriers to entry. If you come to this event you will be welcome. While the support of people who identify as allies to 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people and communities is always appreciated\, please remember that the best support sometimes comes in the form of leaving space for people to connect around their shared identities and lived experiences. \nWho can answer my questions about the event?\nPlease direct questions about this event to Iyol Martínez (they/them)\, Leaderships Program Coordinator at iyol.martinez@prideatwork.ca. SUMMARY:Matrices: Trans\, Non-Binary & Agender Digital Connect [EN]
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 28\, 2023\, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EDT – this is a free networking event for trans\, non-binary and agender people. \n \nPride at Work Canada is proud to present the sixth installment of Matrices: Trans\, Non-Binary & Agender Digital Connect\, a free networking event for trans\, non-binary\, and agender professionals and jobseekers! We will bring trans\, non-binary\, and agender professionals from across Canada. \nOur guest speaker\, Pri Bertucci (they/them)\, will deliver brief remarks exploring the history of Portuguese neutral language and pronouns\, as well as some of the content of the Neutral and Inclusive Language Dossier (officially launched in Portugal in October 2021 in partnership with: Out & Equal and the UN Global Compact). \nAttendees will then enter 1-1 speed networking rounds to discuss our speaker’s story\, our session theme\, and to meet other professionals and jobseekers. After the 1-1 speed networking rounds\, we’ll come back as a group and close the session. \nPlease note that our event will be fully taking place on the Gatheround networking platform. Once registered\, we will send attendees a link to the event and if you haven’t previously used Gatheround\, you’ll need to create an account and sign in. Creating an account with Gatheround is as simple as confirming an email and attendees will be sent detailed instructions on how to join the event! \nHelp us make Matrices a safer event! All attendees will be provided with a set of community guidelines for this event that they will be expected to read and abide by. Pride at Work Canada staff will be present in the main room at all times and volunteer facilitators will be rotating within some of the 1-1 speed networking rounds. Creating a welcoming space is a communal effort\, we look forward to building a braver space based in communicating with compassion. \nCaptioning: At this event there will be live captioning in English\, and live translation in French only available upon request two weeks previous to the event. \nGuest speaker:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] Pri Bertucci (they/them)\, Specialist in diversity and CEO at [DIVERSITY BBOX] \n\nSocial artist\, educator\, and researcher in the field of diversity.\nNon-white\, non-cis\, non-binary/gender queer person.\nCEO of [DIVERSITY BBOX] and founder of the [SSEX BBOX] Institute.\nCo-creator of the first gender-neutral pronoun in Portuguese (ILE/DILE) and one of the greatest precursors of the acronym LGBTQIAP+ in Brazil.\nAuthor of the Neutral and Inclusive Language Dossier.\nFounder and executive producer of the Trans Pride March from Sao Paulo.\n\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWhy is this event taking place? \nWhile many events and networks are inclusive of trans\, non-binary and agender people there are questions and discussions unique to these community members and their experiences. Pride at Work Canada seeks to create space for professional and job-seeking trans\, non-binary and agender people to find support from and make connections with one another. We hope to be responsive to the needs and suggestions expressed by our attendees as this feedback helps to shape future events. \nWho should attend? \nThe purpose of this event is to provide space for folks who identify as trans\, non-binary and agender. There is no desire to monitor anyone’s gender or create barriers to entry. If you come to this event you will be welcome. While the support of people who identify as allies to trans people and communities is always appreciated please remember that the best support sometimes comes in the form of leaving space for people to connect around their shared identities and lived experiences. \nWho can answer my questions about the event? \nPlease direct questions about this event to Iyol Martinez (they/them)\, Leadership Programs Coordinator at iyol.martinez@prideatwork.ca. You may also contact info@prideatwork.ca with questions about any Pride at Work Canada events and activities. \nAccessibility \n\nWe will have an automated captioning translation in French\nCaptioning provided by 3 Play Media Canada\nIf you have any accessibility requests please email iyol.martinez@prideatwork.ca with requests by March 14\, 2023\n\nLimited number of participants in this free networking event for trans\, non-binary and agender people.\nRegistration for this event has closed.

SUMMARY:Rendez-Vous: Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect [EN & FR]
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, February 14\, 2023\, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EST – This is a free networking event for women and non-binary people. \n \nPride at Work Canada has been bringing women and non-binary* professionals and job seekers together for years. As many women and non-binary people don’t feel safe in many professional networking spaces\, Rendez-Vous: Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect creates a unique opportunity for women and non-binary people to make professional connections in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere! \nBilingualism: At this event\, there will be a Francophone breakout room and live translation available upon request two weeks previous to the event. \nGuest speaker:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] Uzoma Asagwara (they/them)\, Politician\, Registered Psychiatric Nurse\, Activist \nUzoma Asagwara is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse\, Addictions Specialist\, and former member of the Canadian National basketball team. Jade strives to create gentle\, pragmatic\, but rigorous points of entry to anti-oppression through workshops\, tool-kits\, seminars\, or curatorial endeavors such as Trans-Fest\, Sanfo-Fest\, We are the Griots\, and BIPOC BUS. Jade is only turning the wheel that has always been turned by those who came before her; and she hopes she can be part of a solution where justice\, stability and equity can exist without the perpetuation of false dichotomies.\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWhy is this event taking place? Created at a time when the lack of LGBTQ+ information and representation in French was glaring\, C’est quoi mon genre? allowed many members of the French-speaking LGBTQ+ community to recognize themselves for the first time and to unite around a common model\, making Henri-June a pioneer in trans representation in Quebec. Through these two platforms\, Henri-June Pilote bears witness to the ups and downs of his medical\, legal and social gender transition. His intimate and educational approach helps to dismantle feelings of isolation\, and provides special access to the trans experience for others.[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nLimited number of participants in this free networking event for women and non-binary people.\nRegistration for this event has closed.

SUMMARY:Rendez-Vous: Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, February 15\, 2022\, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EST. Free event. \n \nPride at Work Canada has been bringing women and non-binary people* together across Canada for years. Though we can’t safely hold in-person events right now\, we are forever optimists. We’re seizing on this opportunity to connect women and non-binary people online\, regardless of where they live. \nRendez-Vous: Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect is the next evolution of our popular 2SLGBTQIA+ Women’s Networking Breakfasts program. It’s a unique opportunity for women and non-binary people to make professional connections in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere! \n*Pride at Work Canada understands that these terms may not resonate with everyone and endeavors to include all those who do not identify as men including trans women\, cis women\, non-binary folks\, agender folks\, and more. \nOur theme for this Rendez-Vous networking event is Diverse Communities\, Diverse Career Paths!\nWhen you think about your professional life\, what catalysts brought you to where you are? Did you have particular watershed moments or turning points? Hear from Janis Irwin\, MLA\, Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood\, Deputy Opposition Whip\, Critic\, Status of Women & LGBTQ2S+ Issues about her journey in politics\, and how the best journeys are often unplanned. Connect with other members of the Rendez-Vous community for a conversation about the value of our unique\, and often unexpected\, journeys and more while expanding your professional network. \nJanis Irwin will deliver brief remarks\, then attendees will be placed into breakout rooms to discuss our speaker’s story and the event theme\, and to meet other professionals and jobseekers. After the breakout room discussions\, we’ll come back as a group to share our takeaways and close the session. \nHelp us make Rendez-Vous a safer event! All attendees will be provided with a set of community guidelines prior to the event that they will be expected to read and honour. Discussion facilitators will be present in our breakout rooms\, and there will be a BIPOC-specific breakout room for folks who wish to join that space. \nGuest speaker:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] Janis Irwin (she/her)\, MLA \nJanis Irwin was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as the representative for the constituency of Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood on April 16\, 2019.
