SUMMARY:SPARK Toronto 2025
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, April 30\, 2025\, from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM EDT – This in-person paid leadership event is open to all who wish to register and has a limited number of participants. \n \nFind inspiration. Leave with a new perspective. Spark impactful change. \nSPARK Toronto 2025 is an exclusive\, interactive event that connects business leaders with the global change makers who are driving 2SLGBTQIA+ equity forward. Unlike traditional conferences\, SPARK Toronto 2025 fosters intimate\, impactful connections with individuals who are shaping the global workplace and human rights landscapes. \nThis is not a “sit and listen” event that could be replaced with a webinar. SPARK Toronto 2025 is a must-attend experience that brings together cutting-edge strategies\, and actionable insights for businesses ready to elevate their approach to inclusion in Canada and globally. \nThis Year’s Theme: From Global to Local\nAs we have been seeing worldwide progress for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and inclusion over the past decades\, we are now seeing a global backlash against Two-spirit\, queer\, and trans rights. This backlash has been global in reach with a number of countries recriminalizing LGBTQIA+ people\, restricting access to gender-affirming care\, banning drag as an artform\, the banning of books and more. With international speakers this SPARK will focus on how we continue to promote 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion at home within this global context. \nEvent Objectives:\n\nGlobal Insights\, Local Impact: Showcase strategies for workforce effectiveness by engaging directly with human rights advocates and business leaders from Canada\, the USA\, Mexico\, the Netherlands and beyond.\nConnection & Collaboration: Create unique opportunities to interact face-to-face with changemakers like David Pollard (he/him)\, Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Workplace Pride Foundation\, and other global leaders.\nAction-Oriented Learning: Provide actionable takeaways for Canadian companies to thrive in:\nTougher markets where LGBTQIA+ rights are under threat.\nEmerging markets where opportunities are expanding with recent advancements like same-sex marriage legalization or decriminalization of homosexuality.\nDeepen Sponsorship Impact: Align sponsor brands with global 2SLGBTQIA+ progress while creating authentic connections with decision-makers in HR and workforce development.\n\nGOLD SPONSOR\n \nHOST SPONSOR & LOCATION\n[vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″] \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″] \n\nEY\nEY Tower\n100 Adelaide St W – 40th Floor\nToronto\, ON M5H 0E2 \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row] \nKeynote Speaker:\n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″] \n \nDavid Pollard (he/him)\nExecutive Director\, Workplace Pride Foundation \n[/vc_column] \n[vc_column width=”2/3″] \nDavid Pollard is co-founder and Executive Director of the Workplace Pride Foundation. And yet\, we still do this work – as our 2SLGBTQIA+ elders have done for decades before us. \nIn this workshop\, we will take stock of the strengths we’ve built through community-making and self-discovery\, and strategize to apply those internally to care for ourselves while doing this work and externally to mobilize against rising hate. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nMain learnings from 2SLGBTQIA+ leaders from Lead with Pride: Best Practices for Advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ Leadership.\nWhat our strengths are as individuals and as a community.\nHow to leverage those strengths in the face of rising hate.\n\nAudience: \n\n2SLGBTQIA+ professionals\n2SLGBTQIA+ community organizations\n\nPrices: \n\nMember ticket price (Proud Partners and Community Partners): $100 + taxes\nNon-member ticket price: $150 + taxes\n\n* The workshop includes a post-event VIQ reception from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM CDT\, where you’ll have the chance to network with fellow guests. \nFor in-person access\, please register here (limited capacity).\nAbout ProPride:\nProPride is an innovative event series hosted by Pride at Work Canada\, bringing together inclusive employers\, 2SLGBTQIA+ thought leaders\, and community organizations for engaging conversations\, networking opportunities\, panel and roundtable discussions. Pride at Work Canada seeks to create space for professional and job-seeking trans\, non-binary and agender people to find support from and make connections with one another. We hope to be responsive to the needs and suggestions expressed by our attendees as this feedback helps to shape future events. \nWho should attend? \nThe purpose of this event is to provide space for folks who identify as trans\, non-binary and agender. There is no desire to monitor anyone’s gender or create barriers to entry. If you come to this event you will be welcome. While the support of people who identify as allies to trans people and communities is always appreciated please remember that the best support sometimes comes in the form of leaving space for people to connect around their shared identities and lived experiences. \nWho can answer my questions about the event? \nPlease direct questions about this event to Iyol Martinez (they/them)\, Leadership Programs Coordinator at iyol.martinez@prideatwork.ca. Yet for over a decade\, Tranna has been making her mark on the Canadian cultural scene as a comedian\, singer\, songwriter and producer. Her multidisciplinary performances have earned her Fashion Magazine’s title of “Queen of Canadian Comedy”\, and she was named one of Just For Laughs’ New Faces Canada in 2019. \nA true inspirational figure in the LGBTQ2S+ community\, Tranna also co-hosted Chosen Family (CBC) with her creative partner Thomas Leblanc\, which was named one of Apple’s Best Podcasts in 2018 and 2019. Her participation in BBC marked a pivotal point in her career\, as she entered the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Described by Métro newspaper as the “Discovery of the Year”\, her career in French-language show business continues\, with her hosting her own gala at the Dr. Mobilo Aquafest and taking part in various festivals (Just For Laughs\, ComediHA!\, Festival d’humour émergent\, etc.).\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWorkshop in French*\nStrength in Community: Leveraging our Strengths in the Fight Against Rising Hate\nGoing beyond the idea of “resilience”\, it’s time to recognize and explore the strengths that come from our intersectional 2SLGBTQIA+ identities and lived experiences – and how we can apply those to our work in employee resource groups and inclusion councils in this climate of rising hate. \nOver the past year\, there has been a rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests\, attacks\, and political movements. Within this context\, our employee resource groups and inclusion councils are facing immense pressure in our work\, increasing calls for support from the community we serve\, and the immense weight that comes with working on issues related to our personal identities. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nMain learnings from 2SLGBTQIA+ leaders from Lead with Pride: Best Practices for Advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ Leadership.\nWhat our strengths are as individuals and as a community.\nHow to leverage those strengths in the face of rising hate.\n\n\nMember ticket price (Proud Partners and Community Partners): $80 + taxes\nNon-member ticket price: $100 + taxes\n\n* The workshop includes a pre-event reception from 5 PM to 5:30 PM\, where you’ll have the chance to network with our guest Tranna Wintour. \nThe Fierté des neiges/Winter Pride and workshop tickets are available on Eventbrite.\nThis in-person event is free and open to the public. The workshop component is considered a paid event. If you have any questions\, please send an email to events@prideatwork.ca.
