Adecco is currently hiring a System Administrator for a full-time 3-year contract opportunity based in Ottawa, ON. This is a hybrid role requiring a valid Secret level security clearance (mandatory for consideration). It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT infrastructure professional with strong expertise in enterprise systems, virtualization, and data centre environments.

This position supports complex enterprise IT operations, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and enterprise applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining system stability, supporting upgrades, improving performance, and ensuring secure and efficient operations across multiple platforms.

  • Pay Rate: $77,000 – $125,000

  • Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid)

  • Schedule: Full-time, variable schedule within Monday to Friday (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 8-hour shifts)

  • Security Clearance: Secret level clearance required (mandatory)

  • Employment Type: Contract (full-time)

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise data centre operations including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and network infrastructure

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems, including Active Directory and Group Policy environments

  • Administer and support virtualization environments, including deployment, optimization, and maintenance activities

  • Manage enterprise storage, backup, and archival systems

  • Support and maintain Microsoft SCCM/SCOM for patching, software deployment, and system monitoring

  • Install and administer Exchange Server environments and related mail services

  • Perform troubleshooting by replicating and diagnosing system and end-user issues

  • Execute backup, replication, and disaster recovery procedures, including failover to DR environments

  • Monitor system performance and recommend optimization improvements

  • Administer GIS and enterprise applications including ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, and SQL Server environments

  • Configure, maintain, and support network infrastructure including routers, switches, and security appliances

  • Design and document virtual server, desktop, and cloud architectures, including technical build documentation

  • Develop and execute system test plans and produce detailed test results and reports

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and documentation as required

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education from a recognized institution

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator within the last 10 years

  • Strong hands-on experience with virtualization, operating systems, databases, Exchange, and GIS enterprise systems

  • Experience administering Active Directory and Group Policy in enterprise environments

  • Proven experience delivering enterprise IT solutions in large-scale government or private sector environments

  • Experience with data centre hardware including servers, storage systems, and enterprise networking equipment

  • Relevant certifications such as MCSE, MCP, or ITIL are required

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently in secure and regulated environments
