Job Summary
We are seeking a full time Research Coordinator to join our research team and provide overall support for the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit (BCIRPU)’s implementation science research program that focuses on injury prevention in girls soccer in real world settings, with the aim for reducing gender disparity for girls/women in injury risk and decreasing the long term injury burden (osteoarthritis).
Organizational Status
The research assistant will report to the Principal Investigator, and to the Director of the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit.
Work Performed
Collaborates with the Principal Investigator to oversee all phases of research, including planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting
Supports the PI to develop and refine study protocols (e.g. participant eligibility criteria, study outcomes)
Works closely with PI in analysis and interpretation of qualitative data
Collaborates with PI in the drafting of ethics applications, grant proposals, and research manuscripts
Produces manuscripts, reports, and presentations; translates complex findings into plain-language summaries for website content and public materials
Supervises students and provides leadership in conducting systematic and scoping reviews related to sport injury prevention implementation topics: including protocol development, literature review, data synthesis, and preparation of results
Leads participant recruitment and qualitative data collection activities, including informed consent processes, participant communication, and conducting interviews and focus groups
Monitors and enforces adherence to research study protocols and ethical guidelines
Coordinates activities with the Community Advisory Board (CAB), including regular communication and facilitating CAB online meetings
Performs other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification
Consequence of Error/Judgement
All work performed by the research coordinator will be reviewed by the Principal Investigator. Inappropriate judgment or error on the part of the research coordinator will result in wasted time and money. Inadequate workmanship will reflect poorly on the project staff and may impact the sustainability of the project.
Supervision Received
The research coordinator will report primarily to the Principal Investigator. It is expected that the research coordinator will be able to work independently and be pro-active in identifying challenges to the progress of the project.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to effectively use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and reference management software.

Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.

Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
Experience with project evaluation, database management, online literature searches, conducting systematic reviews, and web-based applications an asset.
