ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Program Manager. The position will work closely with the Community Outreach Liaison.

SUMMARY

This position's role is to support the outreach efforts of the Sustainable Agriculture KPU Farm outreach project funded by TD Bank. The employee will support the community outreach liaison by working in the learning garden and food forest, and at specific outreach events. The position start date will be as soon as possible. 

Days and Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30-4:30 for 21 hours per week; Note: some evenings and weekend days may be required for outreach events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out tasks in the learning garden and food forest, including weeding, planting, seeding, harvesting, and other physical tasks.
  • Assist the community outreach liaison in leading the KPU Farm Volunteer Program.
  • Assist the community outreach liaison with developing outreach materials such as signage, lesson plans, and communication materials.
  • Assist the community outreach liaison with outreach events such as garden tours, workshops, and school tours/visits.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of basic garden skills and ability to carry out physical tasks including planting, harvest, weeding and general agricultural practices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute in a collaborative manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in an urban garden or agricultural setting is desirable.
  • Ability to work outside in a range of weather conditions.

Salary Information:

Anticipated hourly pay rate: $20
