About the role:

As an Assistant Branch Manager you will establish and develop relationships with our business community contacts and look for opportunities to promote Vancity products and services with members and non members. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; outstanding interpersonal skills and fosters a "Team Player" spirit. You will be deeply committed to creating value in our communities and, through member service and advice, be able to develop business internally and externally in measurable results. Through your leadership, non-management staff will deliver an excellent member experience and relevant financial services to members and communities consistent with branch objectives.

This is a Contract, Full-Time at Chilliwack Community Branch (Branch 31) role and reports directly to the Branch Manager.

A typical day would involve:

  • Continuously building business and financial planning acumen of member facing staff in order to facilitate and/or deliver a great member experience, and grow and maintain a membership base that is loyal, deep and committed to Vancity.
  • Facilitating the quality and value of member interactions against service standards through effective lobby management and member relationship management, and service members' complex needs as required.
  • Managing the delivery of day to day service, including staffing, scheduling, traffic flow, problem resolution, and referrals in order to deliver a great service experience and service members during high volume periods as required.
  • Assisting the Branch Manager in the development of plans to achieve financial objectives for the branch.

You Are:

  • A Strong People Leader - you develop and manage your team to bring about their full potential, and provide leadership in the achievement of member experience objectives.
  • A Planner & Coordinator - you participate in prioritizing / organizing activities like branch planning, developing staff schedules, and the like.
  • An Excellent Communicator - you leverage your written, spoken and interpersonal skills to explain business values, goals, strategies and objectives to staff in a clear way. You are able to coach staff in sales, advice, referral and service delivery, to model a positive member experience, and to address member complaints.
  • A Decisive Problem-Solver -  you are confident in your decision-making skills to optimize operational capability, to diagnose problems in the context of business, financial and member impacts, and to identify viable solutions.
  • Analytical - you assess internal processes and identify opportunities for improvement, and to manage revenue and expenses.

 You Have:

  • At least 3 years of overall experience within the financial industry or a related field, 1 year of which at a leadership capacity
  • Solid Business acumen in the context of the financial industry.
  • Advanced Knowledge of relevant Vancity products, policies, procedures, systems, tools, products and services.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Vancity strategies, functions and programs
  • A High School Diploma (or similar level of educational attainment)

Bonus Points:

  • Post Secondary Education/Diploma (Business Administration or Finance)
  • Successful completion of the Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC) or the Canadian Securities Course (CSC),
  • Successful completion of three courses towards the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation
  • Successful completion of coaching modules in alignment with Vancity's current training and development educational standards.

The Team:

  • The Assistant Branch Manager reports directly to the Branch Manager.

Band: 08

The salary range for the role is $81,200 to $122,000 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($101,600). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
