Adecco is currently hiring a System Administrator for a full-time contract opportunity based in Ottawa, ON. This is a long-term position requiring an enhanced level of security clearance. It is ideal for a highly experienced IT infrastructure professional with deep expertise in enterprise systems, virtualization, and data centre operations.

This role supports complex enterprise environments, including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and supporting mission-critical systems within a large-scale technical environment.

  • Pay Rate: $75,000 – $115,000

  • Location: Ottawa, ON

  • Schedule: Full-time, variable schedule within Monday to Friday (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 8-hour shifts)

  • Contract: 3-year contract

  • Security Clearance: Secret level clearance required (mandatory)

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise data centre operations, including servers, virtualization, storage systems, and network infrastructure

  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Windows and Linux operating systems, including Active Directory and Group Policy environments

  • Administer and support virtualization platforms and virtual server environments

  • Manage and maintain enterprise storage, backup, and archival systems

  • Support Microsoft SCCM/SCOM for software deployment, patching, and system monitoring

  • Install, configure, and maintain Exchange Server environments

  • Perform system troubleshooting and resolve technical issues by replicating and diagnosing end-user problems

  • Execute backup, replication, and disaster recovery procedures, including failover testing

  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for optimization

  • Administer GIS and enterprise applications including ArcGIS and SQL Server environments

  • Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, and security appliances

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system build guides, and architecture diagrams

  • Conduct system testing and produce detailed results and reports

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations when required

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a System Administrator within the last 15 years

  • Extensive experience with virtualization, enterprise operating systems, and database/server administration

  • Strong background in data centre infrastructure including storage, servers, and networking hardware

  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise Windows environments

  • Proven experience in large-scale enterprise or government IT environments

  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution

  • Relevant certifications such as MCSE, MCP, or ITIL are required

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently within secure and regulated environments
