Software Test Engineer (Entry-Level) – Biosciences / Flow Cytometry

About the Opportunity

Adecco is currently hiring a Software Test Engineer for our client, an innovative organization within the biosciences and life sciences sector. This role supports the development of advanced systems within a Flow Cytometry group and offers an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals looking to grow in software testing, scientific instrumentation, and agile product development.

Role Overview

As a Software Test Engineer, you will develop and execute test protocols to validate both functional and non-functional requirements of integrated software and instrument systems. You will collaborate closely with software and systems engineering teams in an agile environment to ensure product quality and readiness for commercialization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of system and software requirements (explicit and implicit)

  • Create detailed test cases and comprehensive test plans aligned with specifications and release timelines

  • Review user stories and system specifications for testability and provide feedback to cross-functional teams

  • Execute test cases during development cycles and formal product verification phases

  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting data

  • Assess and communicate defect severity and priority using sound judgment

  • Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues and drive resolution

  • Maintain accurate documentation of test results and recommend corrective actions

  • Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies

  • Prepare structured, clear, and effective test reports and documentation


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, or a related field

  • Equivalent practical experience will also be considered

Experience

  • 0–3 years of experience in software or systems testing (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)

  • Exposure to commercial systems or product development environments is an asset

  • Experience or familiarity with flow cytometry is considered a strong asset


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Background in biology or related scientific discipline

  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks

  • Experience with Ranorex or similar test automation tools

  • Understanding of system integration and software validation testing


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies

  • Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems

  • Risk-based approach to evaluating defects and test outcomes

  • Ability to work independently and manage testing responsibilities end-to-end

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)

  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across disciplines

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry practices
