Adecco is currently hiring a Petroleum Engineering Technologist for a full-time contract opportunity in Calgary, AB. This role is ideal for a highly analytical and motivated professional with strong experience in subsurface data management, production optimization, and oil & gas operations.

As a Petroleum Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for monitoring well performance, analyzing production data, and supporting engineering initiatives to improve efficiency, safety, and overall operational performance. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and optimize subsurface data usage.

  • Salary: Up to $80/hour

  • Location: Calgary, AB

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 hours/week, with potential for additional hours based on business needs)

  • Contract: Temporary contract until December 31, 2026 (with potential extension)

  • Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze well performance data, including production rates, pressures, temperatures, and fluid compositions

  • Identify and troubleshoot production challenges, working with engineers and field teams to implement solutions

  • Compile and summarize simulation model results and support development of input data

  • Optimize the use of subsurface data, including observation wells, seismic data, well logs, and core analysis

  • Assist in the design and implementation of automation systems for well monitoring and control

  • Develop and maintain scripts and databases to streamline data analysis and reporting

  • Support evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve operational efficiency

  • Ensure work contributes to safe and efficient operations within SAGD environments

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology or a related field

  • Eligible for registration with ASET

  • 5–10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry (SAGD or in situ operations considered an asset)

  • Strong understanding of exploitation engineering and production optimization techniques

  • Proficiency with subsurface and data analysis tools such as Petrel, PowerBI, Seeq, Wellview, and PI

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
